How to Benefit From SAM-e

How to Benefit From SAM-e

SAM-e, or S-adenosylmethionine, is a combination of the amino acid methionine and adenosine triphospate (ATP). The human body naturally produces this compound and some medical studies show that levels of SAM-e may decrease with age. SAME-e supplements are available in both prescribed and over-the-counter dosages, and are used to treat a variety of conditions such as depression, fibromyalgia, liver diseases, osteoarthritis and more. Follow these steps when adding SAM-e into your lifestyle.

Things You'll Need:

SAM-e supplements

1

Consult with your physician before adding SAM-e, or any other supplement, to your regimen. For those with existing conditions that require prescription medication, your doctor can discuss any potential side effects that could occur with the use of SAM-e. Patients with heart conditions, mental health issues or women who are pregnant could experience serious side effects and should not take SAM-e.

2

Store SAM-e in a cool, dry place and keep tablets in the sealed packages until use for maximum effectiveness.

3

Take SAM-e on an empty stomach and at least one hour before eating for optimal absorption. You may take the supplement with water to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach.

4

Maintain the recommended dosage of SAM-e to avoid complications such as physical discomfort including diarrhea or headaches, and prevent weakened effects over time.

5

Notify your physician if you experience any unusual or severe side effects.

6

Discontinue use of the supplement under the guidance of your physician. Your physician may recommend graduated discontinuation based on your current dosage or because of the combined effects with other prescription medications.

Tips & Warnings

SAM-e can also be used for supplementing your pet's regimen and to treat similar conditions found in humans. Consult with your veterinarian first.

How to Benefit from Goji

How to Benefit from Goji

Goji juice is extracted from the Goji berry, which is found in the Himalayas. This nutritional health drink is said to increase the immune system. Goji juice is loaded with polysaccharides, Vitamin C and E, amino acids and potassium. One serving is only 20 calories. Goji can be purchased in its original state, the berry or as a liquid extract.

1

Look for goji juice. This may take some effort, but the results are worth it. Goji juice is a new product that is not readily available in stores. Your best chance of finding a distributor is on the Internet. Goji juice has a very limited shelf life. It requires strict guidelines for storage. Your first step is to find a web site that sells goji juice.

2

Go to goji.com in any search engine and it will take you to the homepage of a wholesaler. You can also find dozens of websites that will help you learn more about goji and products made from the goji berry. There will be sites to buy books, subscribe to newsletters and to purchase a variety of goji products. The best way to benefit from goji juice is to first learn as much as possible about the various products.

3

Do your research. You may notice the cost of goji juice can be a bit expensive. The cost of goji juice will depend on the amount you wish to purchase and where you order from. Make sure that the online retailer offers a money-back guarantee. Make it your mindset that the holistic approach will work to enhance your immune system. If you don't reap the benefits from goji juice you were hoping for, get your money back.

4

Purchase mixtures that only include goji berries. Diluted mixtures will not give you the full benefit to your immune system. Some wholesalers will try and pass off wolfberries as goji berries; they may be cousins, but they do not have the same nutritional value. Authenticate the product before you purchase it.

5

Buy the goji juice. Do your research of the authenticity of the wholesaler's claim that the goji juice is pure and not a mixture. Add goji juice to the online cart at the e-store and enter your credit card information.

6

Drink 2 ounces of goji juice daily; this is the recommended dose. There are no side effects from goji juice, so if you want to drink more, feel free. It is best to incorporate goji juice under your doctor's supervision if you are a diabetic or on blood thinners. It is wise to begin your regime of goji juice in small doses until you know your body's reaction to this immune system enhancer.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure you authenticate your wholesaler.

Drink goji juice twice a day as recommended.

Do not accept imitations. Do not confuse the goji berry with its cousin the wolfberry.

How to Begin Practicing Yoga

How to Begin Practicing Yoga

Yoga offers many physical benefits. It increases flexibility, digestion and breathing as well as overall cardiovascular health. Just like any workout, you need to cater it to your physical ability and experience. Consider the following when beginning your new yoga routine.

1

Consider any injuries. If you have any injuries that may interfere with a yoga workout, research the positions before trying them. Different yoga positions stress different body parts.

2

Work with a spot. Begin your yoga routine with a physically able person. This person needs to be able to help you in the event you overextend yourself.

3

Educate yourself. Yoga books and instructional videos and DVDs teach the different yoga moves. Look for literature that offers alternatives for those who are not able or not interested in performing the complete poses.

4

Learn from a master. Taking a yoga class or private lessons, if possible. This allows you to ask questions, which helps you get the most out of your yoga experience.

5

Practice the poses. Practicing multiple times a week trains your body.

6

Pay attention to your body. Soreness in your muscles is common. This is due to the muscles not yet being adept at moving in specific ways. However, this does not mean you should ignore any pain you feel. Consulting a doctor or person experienced in yoga helps you determine what is an acceptable pain threshold.

Tips & Warnings

If pain develops during a yoga routine, stop and rest. Preventing serious injury is very important when engaging in any sort of exercise.

Classes, books and tapes are all labeled by ability level. Even if you are physically fit, start at the beginners level. Each yoga routine can be catered to different abilities, but advanced programs do not cater to beginners.

Wear something tight-fitting and comfortable. Loose shirts or pants may fall up during the course of your routine.

Yoga mats or folded blankets reduce discomfort during yoga poses.

How to Be Cryogenically Frozen

How to Be Cryogenically Frozen

For many the fear of dying is frightening, not because it holds a world of unknowns, but because they hate leaving life and it's abundances behind. Instead of dying, preserve yourself and wait for the right technology to come along to push the "Play" button of life again. Today there are no promises of being restored, but the technology is there to begin the process of being cryogenically frozen.

1

Understand what cryonics is. Cryonics uses extreme cold to preserve the life of a person who is dying to wait until the technology is available to reverse the process and bring the person back to life. Embryos are frozen and able to be transplanted into a womb years later, so there is scientific backing for the theory and practice of cryonics.

2

Realize the current limitations of being cryogenically frozen. The process cannot be started on living patients, so it can't be used to prevent damage to the body caused by illness or any pain and suffering. The person must be declared legally dead before any cooling takes place.

3

Familiarize yourself with the details of the critical timeline. If you wish to be cryogenically frozen, you must take steps now to begin the process before dying begins. Procedures need to start in the first minute or two after the heart has stopped, waiting no longer than 15 minutes. Longer periods of time are believed to decrease the viability of the brain being fully restored.

4

Find an organization that supports cryonics and has the ability to properly preserve you. The number of organizations is limited, and the goal is to ultimately be revived, so finding the right one for you is essential. Visit the Cryonics Society's website for a list of referrals.

5

Determine the best funding option for you. Cryonics can be expensive, and may be limiting to some due to the time and financial constraints. Many organizations require annual dues and prepayment before the process begins. Options for payment include making the organization the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, using trusts, annuities or plain old cold, hard cash if you happen to have enough on hand.

6

Make others aware of your wishes so they can be prepared to take essential steps to aid you in the process. Within minutes of being pronounced dead, your loved ones will need to begin the cooling process by placing ice around your head and if possible immersing the body in a cold bath or covering it entirely with ice and plastic bags. CPR is also helpful in keeping the blood circulating until assistance from the chosen organization arrives.

How to Soften Uncomfortable High Heels

How to Soften Uncomfortable High Heels

You got a killer pair of high heels you can't wait to wear. But as you put them on, you notice they're incredibly uncomfortable. Now you're wondering how you're going to wear these heels all day or night. But there are some things you can do to soften uncomfortable high heels.

Step
1

Practice wearing your heels around your house so you can gradually get used to them.

Step
2

Increase the amount of time you're wearing your shoes by half an hour every day. Start with just wearing them for an hour or two and work your way up. As soon as they get uncomfortable, take them off.

Step
3

Purchase heel inserts and gel pads for your shoes to keep them from being uncomfortable. In a pinch, put a band aid on your heel to prevent uncomfortable high heels from causing a blister on your heel.

Step
4

Try putting on damp socks and walking around your house in your heels. The damp socks will stretch the heels so they shouldn't be so painful. However, make sure you don't stretch your shoes out too much or they won't fit and will cause blisters.

Step
5

Make sure your high heels fit your feet properly. Try on new shoes late in the day when feet are swollen. In general, the more expensive the shoe is, the better it'll fit your feet.

Tips & Warnings

Avoid breaking in your heels if they're uncomfortable when you first put them on. They won't get better over time.

How to Soften a Leather Belt

How to Soften a Leather Belt

Got a favorite leather belt that just will not loosen up? There is a very simple way to loosen up that belt without damaging the leather at all. The following steps will guide you to loosening your favorite leather belt in just a few minutes.

Step
1

Purchase isopropyl rubbing alcohol. This can be bought at your local drug or grocery store. The brand of the alcohol is of no concern to this process.

Step
2

Pour some of the alcohol onto a cotton ball. Rub the cotton ball thoroughly all over the leather belt. You may need to use more than one cotton ball if the first one becomes mangled. Repeat this process two more times to ensure the alcohol has soaked into the leather.

Step
3

Use Vaseline to rub onto the belt as well. This product can be purchased at most grocery stores and drug stores. This process is best done by using your fingers. Make sure you rub the entire belt with the Vaseline. You will not have to repeat this process. By performing this step, the leather is not only loosened, but it is also softened.

Step
4

Use the same technique as mentioned before on all your other leather products. Shoes, belts, purses and wallets can all receive the same treatment and will all be loosened and softened by the above process. This process will also protect your shoes from water damage as well.

How to Slim the Waist With an A-line Skirt

How to Slim the Waist With an A-line Skirt

The A-line skirt is, by design, figure-flattering. The skirt is narrow at the waist and widens as it flows over the hips. This well-known feature has made the A-line skirt a wardrobe staple. It never goes out of style. Try a few fashion techniques to enhance the waist-slimming effect of the A-line.

Step
1

Choose a solid, dark-color skirt. A dark color allows the eye of the beholder to follow the natural shape of the A-line. The eye does not become lost in the intricacies of a patterned fabric. It is not distracted by bulges otherwise accentuated by lighter colors.

Step
2

Hem the A-line at mid knee or below. Use length to balance width. The wider the waist, the longer the skirt length should be. This gives the illusion of a smaller waistline.

Step
3

Match the

blouse

. The eye of the beholder moves from head to toe. It stops at the waist if there is a change in fabric color or pattern. For a waist-slimming effect, choose a solid blouse the same color as the A-line skirt.

Step
4

Tuck in the blouse. Doing so gives the upper body a V-shape. This balances the hips and enhances the waist-slimming effect of the A-line.

Step
5

Add an extra-wide belt. It has a narrowing effect on a wide waist. A belt gathers the material above and below it, producing an hourglass look. Choose a belt color that blends well with the color of the A-line skirt and blouse.

Tips & Warnings

Wear shoes with heels. Added height offsets a larger waist.

Don't accessorize at the waist. Pins, bows and appliques placed at the waist draw attention to its size.

How to Size Sandals

How to Size Sandals

Feet can continue to grow, even as we get older. It's not uncommon to find that our tried-and-true shoes are suddenly tighter at the toes or on the sides. In addition to natural growth, gaining or losing weight can also cause shoe size to change. If it's been a long time since you've bought a new pair of shoes or

sandals

, it's a good idea to check and see whether your size has changed. If you're too embarrassed to do this in a shoe store, there is a good way to find out what size shoes and sandals you wear right at home.

Things You'll Need:

Piece of paper

Pencil

Tape

Ruler

Step
1

Tape the piece of paper to the floor. Make sure it's secure enough that it doesn't move.

Step
2

Put on a pair of socks and place your foot on the paper.

Step
3

Use the pencil to trace the outline of your foot onto the paper. Keep the pencil pointing straight down, without angling it, and trace as close to your foot as possible.

Step
4

Place the ruler along the top of the foot outline and draw a straight line across it, making sure the pencil actually touches the top of the original foot outline at some point. Repeat this process with the bottom of the outline.

Step
5

Measure the length from the top line to the bottom line and record the length.

Step
6

Find the size of women's sandals you should wear based on the following guidelines: starting at 8 inches, which is a size five, sandal sizes go up a half size for every 1/2 inch beyond 8 inches.

Step
7

Find the size of men's sandals based on the following measurements: starting at 9 inches, which is a size six, sandals sizes go up a half size for every 1/2 inch beyond 9 inches.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure the piece of paper you use to trace your foot is sturdy (don't use onion skin or tracing paper) and is larger than your foot by several inches on all sides.

Type up the inches-to-size-conversion numbers and take it, along with a small ruler, to the shoe store with you, in case you run across any sandals without sizes printed on them. While rare, this can be a problem if you find a sandal you like that's been moved out of its correct size section.

How to Size a Bra

How to Size a Bra

My wife has wanted me to write this for a while but I'm letting her take this one.
A Bra that is the wrong size can be very uncomfortable. If you've lost weight, had kids, gained weight, etc. your Bra size may have changed. Here is how to find out the right size for you.

Step
1

Band Size
To find your band size measure your rib cage (right under your bust)Add 5. If the number is odd add 1 so the band size is even.

Step
2

Cup Size
Put on your most comfortable bra. Measure around your bust at the fullest place. If the measurement is 1 inch more the cup size is an "A" 2 inches more means a "B" 3 inches more is a "C" and so on.

Step
3

Double Check
Always try on a bra before buying it. The band should git snugly enough to offer support without weighing too heavily on the shoulders. A good rule of thumb is to be able to run your fingers around the inside of the band.

How to simplify your office wardrobe

How to simplify your office wardrobe

Simplifying your wardrobe will make it easy to maintain and save you time in the mornings

Step
1

Basic clothing works best for office apparel. I tend to stick to basic colors such as black, white, grey, tan and navy. These colors pair well with each other.

Step
2

start off by clearing your closet of any outgrown clothes or those "someday I will fit into it items"... you know what I'm talking about ladies. If you have it worn the item in over 3 years its time to donate it to someone that can use it. The only exception to the rule is for evening dresses that still fit.

Step
3

Repair or alter any items to give them a tailored look.

Step
4

Now that your closet is organized with clothing that actually fits you may have room for some extra items. Invest in white collared shirts (wrinkle free), quality trousers in basic colors: tan, grey, black. A few business jackets in basic colors, slight pen stripes are ok. These items tend to have a long fashion life.

Step
5

Avoid trendy items such as excessively decorated designs, wild colors or patterns

Step
6

Add a couple of accent pieces to your wardrobe such as pastel shirts that can be added under a business suit for color. Your accessories will be what puts the outfit together and gives a clean appearance.

Tips & Warnings

Rather than investing in highly colored clothing or bold designs, your jewelery is where your accent pieces should come to play

If you stick to a 4 color wardrobe like I do, your laundry will be really easy

I recommend making a bulk purchase of trouser socks in basic colors: nude, tan, black, navy. This will avoid the hassle of trying to match patterns in the morning. The more you can simplify the better.
